Thank you, 2016!

2016 was a fluid year for me. I finessed the hardships and I’m at the beginning of 2017 feeling stronger than ever. For the first time I didn’t mope through my roadblocks; I felt how I needed to feel and dealt with them how I felt I needed to. Complete ownership.

Financially, I pulled my head out of the sand and faced the reality from my divorce. No longer angry with my ex for not paying alimony and child support but instead focused on making things happen. Grateful that I can and for the connections I’ve made to make it possible.

I’m ready to receive love. In 2016 I was broken and didn’t trust it. If I have a chance at love this year I’m going all in–completely vulnerable–and privately. Not everyone is rooting for me, and I was reminded that sometimes that includes family.

My biggest prayer and goal came through in December and I am overwhelmed with gratitude. I am in a place where I can say I deserve all the beautiful things ahead for me. That’s growth. I’ll continue to work on me and mind my business. Because life will continue to bring its lessons. But God.

My little word for 2017? Thrive.

Cheers to a 2017 full of love and fulfilled promises. xx

August Favorites

August was a no-buy month for me but I was lucky to have happy mail from friends and shopped my stash.  Some new, some old that I reunited with and I legit grabbed for these things almost daily (except the red liquid lipstick; I received that toward the end of August but I love this lippie).  Deets below and as always ask any questions in the comments.

HA!  At the very top is my wrap cap; I wrap it around my hair in the morning after I have burned it into submission with my flat iron to keep it neat until I leave out for the day.

Next is my travel knots with striped beads.  Blacks and white striped beads. I heart Nikki and her shop. Shop it here.

Custom stickers of myself!  Duh…I absolutely adore and the creator is one of my best planner friends.  Want your own?  Shop here.

Diptyque‘s Nourishing Lip Balm. Worth every single penny.  It has a pleasant slight rose scent.  Normally I am funny about scents but this one is so faint and pleasing.

A great nude lipstick from Glo Girl Cosmetics in the shade Camel Toe.  I know…the name leaves a lot to be desired but it is what it is.  LOL. It is matte without drying my lips.  Big win.  I picked it up at the Atlanta Beauty Show a few months ago.

Diptyque sent samples with my order of course and I am not normally a floral scents gal, but I love Olène (Wisteria, Narcissus, Jasmine and Honeysuckle.)

The Lip Bar‘s liquid lipstick in Bawse Lady. Another great gift from my girlfriend Njeri. I am a blessed beauty junkie!

Maybelline’s Master Precise Curvy Liquid Liner.  Love, love the curvy applicator tip. CVS.

I walked with this set of fine point gel pens from MAMBI since I received them from my planner friend, Akilah.  They are great. I need another set to hoard. Seen at Hobby Lobby.

If you’ve read this far (thank you for hanging in there) you think this is just a ruler, right?  Wrong.  It’s my ruler.  Every time I borrowed one in the house the owner would remind me that it wasn’t mine (kids!) BUT, now I have my own. It’s the little things. Walmart.

MAC‘s Transparent Finishing Powder.  Game changer for me when setting my underage concealer.  And how pretty is this LE Chris Chang packaging?  Adore.

Lastly…my beautiful, black kodiak traveler’s notebook handmade by Terri Bradley over at Speckled Fawns. It holds my multiple daily notebooks and I just love it.

Video: August Planner Set-Up

Hello!  As promised here: Planner Love: Gillio Amica, I have uploaded a video set-up of my planner.  Thumbs up if you like it and thanks for watching in advance. xo, Pasch.

Preparing For A Shift

Pascha Shepard

You ever feel like there’s a shift coming? I feel pregnant with expectation.  Something is coming. This year has been happy even with some low moments; I am looking at them as lessons.  When I journal I try to identify the take away(s).  Why go through it with no growth?  I’ve had so many twists and turns; I have gained people I didn’t expect to gain and I have lost someone I never thought I would lose. All for a reason and a season. I do believe in God and I do believe that God is the master planner. You ever hear the joke that we plan and God laughs? I believe there is some truth to that.

Learning about myself has been difficult sometimes. Some things I want to change and some things I just refuse to change. I’ve learned that how others feel about me is not my business and I am focused more on minding my business.  I would really like to take a break from all these “life lessons” but God has other plans for me. In the grand scheme, I feel that this is all for a greater purpose and will make me a better person in the end. I have found my voice and right or wrong, I own it…it’s mine.

Joyce Meyers

In order to prepare for this shift, I have been (1) quieter.  Yes, I am still active on social medial but on a personal level, I am less chatty about my personal affairs.   (2) Journaling, (3) mind mapping have really helped me “see” what I am thinking and sometimes missing.  Lastly, I am more (4) prayerful.   My 3/3/3 prayers have helped keep me calm.  My anxiety is much better and I am identifying what is troubling me emotionally with more ease. With one eye open I am ready for what is next.  Thanks for reading and allowing me to share.

Planner Love: Gillio Amica

Last week I received this dark brown, medium, Gillio Amica.  Absolutely gorgeous and the leather smells so good. If you have any questions, please email me or drop them below.  With school starting soon, I had to rethink how i am using my planner–I gotta get more organized.  Back to school means more work for me as a mom.  First thing I did last Saturday morning was empty her…

…made a new dashboard (cut down and laminated a handmade card from Painted Grace Designs; she has an Etsy shop but I had the pleasure of meeting her when some friends and I came upon a street market in Marietta), organized my sections (personal, yearly, monthly, financial and lists), filled out my goals and calendars for August and when I was done I felt so relaxed and accomplished.  Sometimes keeping everything in my head stresses me out because I typically forget something.

Life Post: Quick Update

Beautiful people!  Life has been busy and I just haven’t felt inspired to blog–straight up.  My blog has always been a genuine space and I would rather it be quiet than I force myself to post some thrown together piece.  Well…here I am, hoping to get back into the swing of things.  Before my absence I was going hard with the blogging and it became work and I was chasing the dollar but that is not why I blog– I blog to share and inspire and enable—er, influence, LOL.  If you follow my Instagram, I  instablog daily; I love IG.  If you aren’t already following me there…you should: @theposhblog annnnnnd I started a separate Instagram for all my planner posts here: @poshplans.  In the coming weeks (okay maybe months) I plan to add a planner page here also.  Running the two accounts have been fun and I am excited to share and meet and interact with everyone. Oh and Periscope…follow me there for live videos on happy mail, life scopes, and beauty talk: Periscope: The Posh Blog.

On a personal note, I have learned a lot the first half of 2016.  I have loved, lost, laughed and cried.  I was bold and put myself out there–I am working hard to not be hardened.  In the end…I am whole.  I learned that sometimes it is family that isn’t rooting for you, that I was dating cubs and I need a lion, that I am ready to love again (in spite of the risk and I am dating again) and I am still working on myself.  The pain was short lived, it certainly seemed longer at the time, but I did the heart work, lost myself in mommy life and my job and took a vacation.  I am back and feel great!  Thank you for following me on all my social media platforms, for the private messages, the likes and loves and all the amazing support!  I leave you with a photo from my most recent trip to the beach (my happy place) to visit my best friend, my first sister who I love dearly.  I am centered and happy, hope you are also. xx, Posh

Confession: I’m a PlanNerd

Planners, pens, pencils, notebooks, stationery…I need them allllll. I started a new Instagram profile just to share my love of all things planner related (@poshplans). Are you a PlanNerd, too?  Different planners for different reasons, some I just switch out based on mood but my main planner (for now) is my Erin Condren Life Planner. I’ll be sharing how I use one or some of them this month.

Goal Setting

Goal Setting

At one point I used to weekly write my goals.  Somehow…I got off track and I feel like something is missing.  There is truly power in good routines and I miss writing my goals. When I started writing goals (some years ago), I thought of it as a wish list and my goals used to be broad, immeasurable and unclear.  With much research (via articles and online guidance) I learned that writing goals is very much a process to be well thought out with attainable and measurable parameters.  Much more work than I thought.  As I sat down this morning with myself for some much needed, long overdue quiet time to re-center myself and calm my anxiety, I realized I needed to “brush up” on the rules/tips/tricks (whatever you want to call it) for great goal setting and decided to share with you.  I really love how Gene Donohue walks me through his 7 points to goal setting; below is my summary with some direct quotes of his steps found on (a self improvement and personal development community).

I believe goals should be private. I believe that if I share a goal with someone and they have any negative energy, it will effect my goal negatively.  Keep your goals to yourself.

  1. Make sure the goal is something you really want.  Not what someone else wants for you and not something that you think sounds good.  “Goals must be consistent with your values.”
  2. One goal can not contradict any of your other goals. “You can’t buy a $750,000 house if your income goal is only $50,000 per year.”  Eliminate contradictory ideas from our thinking.
  3. Set goals in the 6 areas of life to create balance and avoid contradictory ideas:
    1. family + home
    2. financial + career
    3. spiritual + ethical
    4. physical + health
    5. social + cultural
    6. mental + educational
  4. Think positively to create instructions for our subconscious mind to carry out.  Eliminate any negative thoughts and think positively.
  5. Be complete in details.  “Instead of writing ‘a new home,’ write ‘a 4,000 square foot contemporary with 4 bedrooms and 3 baths and a view of the mountain on 20 acres land.'” I keep this reminder on a post-it.  We are giving our subconscious mind a map into what we want…why not be detailed?
  6. Make sure your goal is high enough. “Shoot for the moon, if you miss you’ll still be in the stars.”
  7. Write down each goal.  This sets the process in motion. As life happens, review and revise your goals accordingly.

Aren’t these great?  As I go through my days and plan weekly, I will keep my goals in mind. In the past this helped keep me focused and I am excited to return to the practice of weekly goal setting (same day and time every week to create a good habit).

I created and keep this in the Private section of my planner. Once I write my goals, I move it to the next blank page. It is a constant reminder.

Please share your tip(s) and/or thoughts. xx

Discovering Avalon

Hi y’all!

This summer the kids and I made a Summer Bucket List and we marked off one of our places to go this weekend.  Maximizing my time with them is my goal even more so as Madisyn leaves for college in the fall.  While she won’t be farm she will be living on campus and I am going to miss my baby girl ::insert ugly cry face::  We had a great, lazy Saturday afternoon exploring Avalon.

Avalon is an amazing shopping space located in Alpharetta, GA.  It is such a gorgeous, well thought out development.  So fancy and you know how much I love F A N C Y.  The concierge is professionally dressed (not polo– a suit) and I  love, love, love the outdoor fireplace.  The candy shop has my favorite candy (Bonz) and Free People (fab clothes and accessories) , The Cosmetic Market for my beauty obsession and even The Paper Source for my planner obsession.  So many great stores, restaurants and a movie theatre, I could go on and on but here is the link for more information: Experience Avalon.

I created a small collage of our time there and my favorite picks.  Don’t mind the boy, he was hangry–nothing a double cheese burger couldn’t cure and Taylor wanted no parts of the photos.  We spent the whole afternoon/early evening browsing and people watching and was treated lunch at Bocado Burger (yummy). Thursdays they have yoga in the park and we are already planning to go back next Sunday.  Just a great friendly, family, shopaholic space!
